Methyl salicylate is a pain-relieving substance that works by creating a warming sensation on the skin, which helps to increase blood flow to the area and reduce pain and stiffness in muscles and joints.
Inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes and blocks prostaglandin synthesis in peripheral tissues, reducing pain and inflammation; simultaneously activates TRPM8 and TRPA1 receptors to produce a cooling counter-irritant sensation that modulates pain perception through gate-control theory.

This is for external use only — never swallow it. Apply a thin layer to the painful area and gently rub it in. Use 2-3 times a day or as needed. Wash your hands thoroughly after applying. Do not cover the area tightly with a bandage after applying.
Since you use this only when you feel pain, there is no strict schedule. Simply apply it the next time you need relief. Do not apply extra to make up for a missed application.
This is strictly for rubbing on the skin — never swallow it or let children play with it, as even a small amount swallowed can kill a child. Buy only from reputable pharmacies and avoid unmarked balms from roadside sellers as they may contain unsafe amounts of methyl salicylate. Do not apply on broken skin or use too much — more product does not mean faster relief.
Do not use together with other pain-relief creams, balms, or hot patches on the same area as this can cause severe skin burns. If you are taking blood-thinning medicines like warfarin or aspirin, consult your doctor before using it as methyl salicylate can increase bleeding risk when absorbed through the skin. Avoid applying it alongside heating pads or hot water bottles.
