Who is this for?
This is a combination of three medicines — rabeprazole (which reduces stomach acid), clarithromycin (an antibiotic), and amoxicillin (another antibiotic) — that work together to kill a stomach bacteria called H. pylori that causes ulcers.
Inhibits the H+/K+-ATPase pump in gastric parietal cells, reducing gastric acid secretion and creating an acidic environment unfavourable for H. pylori survival, while clarithromycin and amoxicillin inhibit bacterial protein synthesis and cell wall integrity respectively, eradicating the pathogen.

The usual adult dose is rabeprazole 20mg + clarithromycin 500mg + amoxicillin 1000mg, all taken together twice a day (morning and evening) for 7 to 14 days. Take with or before food. You must complete the full course even if you feel better — stopping early can make the bacteria resistant. In Nigeria, Pyrox Combi Tablets is a common brand that packages all three together for convenience.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for it.

Always complete the full course even if you feel better. Stopping early can cause the infection to return and become drug-resistant.
You must complete the full course of treatment — do not stop because you feel better, otherwise the bacteria can come back stronger and harder to treat. Buy only from a licensed pharmacy and check the expiry date — avoid buying from roadside sellers or open markets. Do not share this medicine with someone else even if they have similar symptoms, as it is a prescription treatment.
Avoid alcohol completely while on this treatment as it can worsen stomach irritation and increase side effects. Do not take with blood-thinning drugs like warfarin without your doctor knowing, as clarithromycin can increase bleeding risk. Also avoid taking with ergotamine-containing migraine medicines as this can cause dangerous side effects.
