Pizotifen (commonly sold as Mosegor in Nigeria) is a drug that works by blocking certain chemicals in the brain like serotonin and histamine, which helps prevent migraine headaches and can also increase appetite and promote weight gain.
Blocks H1 histamine receptors and antagonizes serotonin receptors (5-HT1 and 5-HT2), preventing migraine attacks and stimulating appetite through central nervous system effects.

Adults usually start with 0.5 mg (1 tablet of Mosegor) taken once daily at night because it can make you sleepy. Your doctor may gradually increase the dose up to 1.5 mg daily, which can be taken as a single dose at night or split into 3 doses during the day. It can be taken with or without food. For migraine prevention, you may need to take it for several weeks before you notice full benefit.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not take two doses at once to make up for it.
Do not stop taking Pizotifen suddenly if you have been using it for a long time — your doctor should reduce the dose gradually. Because it causes drowsiness, avoid driving okada or operating machines until you know how it affects you. Buy only from registered pharmacies — Mosegor is commonly counterfeited, so avoid roadside sellers or unverified market stalls.
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Pizotifen as it can make the drowsiness much worse. Sleeping pills, antihistamines (like Piriton), and other drugs that cause drowsiness will have a stronger effect if combined with Pizotifen. If you are taking antidepressants, inform your doctor before starting Pizotifen.
