This is a vaginal pessary (insert) that combines three active ingredients: metronidazole (an antibiotic that kills harmful bacteria), clotrimazole (an antifungal that kills yeast/fungus), and lactobacillus (a friendly bacteria that helps restore the natural balance in your vagina).
Metronidazole inhibits bacterial nucleic acid synthesis by forming cytotoxic intermediates that damage DNA in anaerobic organisms; Clotrimazole inhibits fungal ergosterol synthesis by blocking lanosterol 14α-demethylase (CYP51), disrupting fungal cell membrane integrity; Lactobacillus restores normal vaginal microbiota by producing lactic acid and bacteriocins, thereby suppressing pathogenic organisms and re-establishing vaginal pH homeostasis.

Insert one pessary deep into the vagina at bedtime for 7 nights or as your doctor prescribes. Wash your hands before and after insertion. Lie down after inserting so it stays in place. It is best used at night so the medicine works while you sleep. Klovinal is the popular Nigerian brand.
If you miss a dose at bedtime, insert it as soon as you remember. If it is already morning, skip that dose and insert the next one at bedtime as usual. Do not use two pessaries at once to make up for the missed dose.
