Who is this for?
Letrozole is a hormone-based drug that works by lowering the amount of estrogen (a female hormone) your body produces, which can slow or stop the growth of certain cancers that need estrogen to grow.
Inhibits aromatase enzyme in postmenopausal women, blocking the peripheral conversion of androgens to estrogen and reducing circulating estrogen levels, thereby suppressing estrogen-dependent breast cancer cell growth.

Take one 2.5 mg tablet once a day, at the same time each day. You can take it with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to — treatment for breast cancer usually lasts several years. Available in Nigeria as Glotraz, Letromine, or Xylox 2.5 tablets.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not take two tablets at the same time to make up for it.
Only use Letrozole if prescribed by a doctor — do not buy it from roadside sellers or use someone else's prescription. Because it can weaken bones over time, your doctor may recommend calcium and vitamin D supplements or bone density checks. Report any unusual joint pain, swelling, or tiredness to your doctor promptly.
Tamoxifen (another breast cancer drug) can reduce how well Letrozole works — do not take them together unless your doctor specifically says so. Drugs containing estrogen such as hormone replacement therapy or certain contraceptive pills will cancel out the effect of Letrozole. Let your doctor know about all other medicines you are taking.

Letrozole is NOT safe during pregnancy — it can cause serious harm to an unborn baby — and should not be used while breastfeeding. If there is any chance you could be pregnant, tell your doctor immediately.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so avoid storing near windows or in cars. Keep in the original pack and away from children and moisture.
