Ephedrine hydrochloride is a medicine that works by stimulating the nervous system and narrowing blood vessels, which helps raise blood pressure and open up the airways to make breathing easier.
Activates α1 and β1-adrenergic receptors, increasing peripheral vasoconstriction and cardiac output to elevate blood pressure, while stimulating β2-adrenergic receptors in bronchial smooth muscle to promote bronchodilation and relieve airway obstruction.

Ephedrine injection is usually given by a doctor or nurse in a hospital setting, especially during surgery or emergencies. If prescribed in oral form, a typical adult dose is 25–50 mg taken every 3–4 hours as directed by your doctor. Do not take more than your doctor recommends.
If you miss a dose and you are taking it on a schedule, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not take a double dose to make up for it.
This drug is sometimes misused or sold illegally — only use ephedrine as prescribed by a qualified doctor and obtain it from a licensed pharmacy. Do not buy injectable medicines from roadside vendors or open markets as they may be fake or contaminated. If you notice your heart beating very fast or you feel unwell after taking it, stop and see a doctor immediately.

Be careful combining with other blood pressure medicines as it may interfere with how they work. Avoid taking with caffeine-heavy drinks like strong coffee or energy drinks as it can worsen heart racing and restlessness.
