How do you take Colestyramine?

The usual adult dose is one sachet (4g) mixed in at least 150ml of water or juice, taken 1 to 4 times daily. Always mix it well into a liquid — never swallow the dry powder on its own. People who are allergic to colestyramine, people with complete blockage of the bile ducts (complete biliary obstruction), and people with a condition called phenylketonuria (some formulations contain aspartame). People with severe constipation problems should also avoid it.
