Who is this for?
Ceftriaxone with Lidocaine is a strong antibiotic injection where ceftriaxone kills bacteria causing infections and lidocaine is a pain reliever mixed in to reduce the pain of the injection at the injection site.
Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins and preventing peptidoglycan cross-linking, while lidocaine blocks voltage-gated sodium channels to provide local anesthesia at the injection site.

This is given as an injection by a nurse or doctor — do not try to inject yourself at home. The usual adult dose is 1g to 2g once daily, injected into the muscle (buttocks). For serious infections, your doctor may increase the dose to 4g daily. Your doctor will decide how many days you need it, usually 7 to 14 days depending on the infection. Always complete the full course even if you feel better.
Since this injection is usually given by a healthcare worker, if you miss your scheduled injection, go to the hospital or clinic as soon as possible to get it. Do not try to double the dose to make up for the missed one.

Always get this injection from a qualified nurse or doctor at a hospital or registered clinic — never from roadside medicine sellers or untrained people. Complete the full course of injections your doctor prescribed even if you feel better after 2 or 3 days, otherwise the infection can come back stronger and become resistant. The lidocaine version is only for injection into the muscle — it must never be injected into a vein (IV).
Do not use with calcium-containing IV drips (like Ringer's lactate) as it can form dangerous particles in the blood. Blood thinners like warfarin — ceftriaxone can increase the risk of bleeding, so tell your doctor if you take warfarin. Avoid taking with other antibiotics like chloramphenicol unless your doctor says so, as they may work against each other.

Store the unopened powder in a cool, dry place below 25°C — away from direct sunlight and heat, which is important in Nigeria's hot climate. Once mixed with the lidocaine solution, use it immediately or within a few hours. Keep out of reach of children at all times.
