This is a strong antibiotic that combines amoxicillin (which kills bacteria) with clavulanate (which stops bacteria from defending themselves against the amoxicillin). Together, they fight infections that regular amoxicillin alone cannot handle.
Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins and preventing peptidoglycan cross-linking; clavulanic acid irreversibly inactivates bacterial beta-lactamases, preventing amoxicillin degradation and extending spectrum coverage against resistant organisms.

For adults, the usual dose is one 625 mg tablet twice or three times daily, or one 1000 mg tablet twice daily, depending on the severity of the infection. Always take it with food or just before eating — this helps your stomach and also helps the drug work better. Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water. Complete the full course your doctor or pharmacist prescribed, even if you feel better after a few days.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not take two doses at once to make up for the one you missed.
